6th – 8th grade

 Youth explore foods, learn about the food system, and create meals as chefs-in-training, receiving intensive, culinary lessons in knife skills and cooking techniques. 

Youth Chef Academy© for 7th and 8th graders promotes intake of vegetables, legumes and whole grains while addressing academic standards in math and literacy. Through the course of 6 - 12 lessons, youth explore foods, learn about the food system, and create meals as chefs-in-training receiving intensive culinary lessons in knife skills and cooking methods. Programs are led by a culinary nutritionist from FoodRight. Teachers, parents and volunteers are provided with training to support the classroom lessons.
